This year, as one of their community service projects, the National Junior Honor Society students will be sponsoring a toy drive for teens that are patients at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.
When I contacted the hospital they informed me that babies, toddlers and young children always receive the most from community sponsored toy drives but the pre-teens and teens don’t receive much.
Therefore, starting tomorrow, Tuesday, 11/27 – through Thursday, 12/13 we will be collecting new, unwrapped items, for the teens. Below is a list of items to consider:
Games: board games, card games, word games, puzzles, etc.
Teen coloring books with colored pencils
Art supplies & any art kit
Jewelry / bracelet making kits
Architecture /engineering kits
Tech-savvy knick knacks (headphones, etc.)
Pro/local sport items
Sports balls / small basketball hoops to hook on door
Table top tennis / foosball / air hockey, etc.
Warm accessories, i.e. fuzzy socks, warm hats, cute scarves
Journals & books
Accessories – jewelry, hair, body spray, make-up, nail polish, etc.
Any other idea you can think of – the best giveaways are things to keep teens busy while in their rooms!
Other Gift Ideas – gift cards (iTunes, Amazon, Visa – please keep $ amounts small)
Please bring all items collected to the Media Center and
keep track of the number of items you have collected!!
